About

Oswestry Rural Youth Church (ORYC) is an expression of church that will serve 11-18s living in the countryside around Oswestry. Our aim is to develop a church community
that:

  • Offers young people space to worship God,

  • Cultivates a shared life,

  • Thirsts to take part in God’s mission, and

  • Takes seriously its links with other expressions of church in the area.

Our Campaign

We have been able to secure £120,000 through the generosity of local giving and support and also through grant-making trusts. We are still approximately £25,000 off our target to fully ensure that this project can be sustainable for the next 3 years.

To enable our vision to become a reality we have employed a Pioneer Youth Minister, who will work with the young people of Oswestry to create something/somewhere that they can call their church. Our new Pioneer Youth Minister, Matthew (Matt) Barkley has joined us from Surrey where he has worked as a church Youth Worker for the last four years at Woking United Reformed Church. He has moved with his wife Steph, and 15 month old son Theo. We look forward to having them in Oswestry and pray that they settle well.
